Ah, music,” he said, wiping his eyes. “A magic beyond all we do here!” This was Dumbledore in  J.K. Rowling’s bestselling book  Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone .  In a place filled with all kinds of magic and wizardry, Dumbledore was lifted out of his sadness by the magic of music. There is no doubt, music lifts the spirit and brings joy to the heart.

I’m sure you can remember a moment where a song has made you particularly sad or very excited and happy. So what gives music this power? Science all but confirms that humans are hard-wired to respond to music. Scientists have found that music stimulates more parts of the brain than any other human function. Music brings you peace and comfort and lifts you up when you are blue.

All forms of music have therapeutic effects. Different types of music evoke different areas of the brain. There is strong scientific evidence supporting music therapy for improving the mood. The five conditions for which music therapy has been supported and studied are Autism, Dementia, Depression, Infant development and Sleep quality. Music is the strongest form of magic!
