DISCOVERIES IN SPACE

“There is no truth superior to Me.

Everything rests upon me as pearls

are strung on a thread”

                                                        -Bhagavad Gita 7.7

Space is an extraordinary thing. It includes living things, planets, stars, galaxies, dust clouds and even time. As it is said in the Rig Veda – the Sun has tied Earth and the other planets through an attraction and moves them around itself as if a trainer moves newly trained horses around itself holding their reins.

Cosmic science of today is based on Vedic Hindu texts written thousands of years ago.  Universe is nearly 13.82 billion years old. The big bang occurred at 4 trillion degrees Celsius, hotter than the Sun’s core!

ISRO built India’s first satellite, Aryabhatta on 19 April, 1975. ISRO also launched India’s Mars Mission, a satellite named Mangalyaan. India’s first interplanetary mission was launched on 5 November, 2013 and has been orbiting Mars since 24 September, 2014. The Hubble space telescope, launched in 1990, is the only telescope designed to be in serviced in space by astronauts, named after the famous astronomer Edwin Hubble. There are many recent discoveries made on space. NASA’s Kepler Space Telescope mission has just announced the discovery of 1284 new exoplanets nine of which are considered potentially habitable.
